about
Hello! My name is Kelsey and I’m a fellow special education teacher, just trying to help teachers continue to find the joy in teaching.
This is my eleventh year in special education and my third year teaching in an intensive intervention program. I’m passionate about continuing to learn more ways to incorporate life skills, accessible communication, visuals, and FUN into our classroom.
During my time in the classroom, I obtained certification in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and Classroom Pivotal Response Training (CPRT); fulfilling the role as a site-based CPRT trainer for our district. ESDM and CPRT both place an emphasis on bringing the joy into learning and prioritizing lessons that incorporate our students’ interests to optimize motivation.
Now a little about the non-teacher part of my life…
My husband and I bought my grandparents’ house just a few years ago and have slowly been turning it into our own version of home. We live in a little town within a pretty big city in Missouri. The best part about where we live is being within walking distance of restaurants, small shops, delicious coffee, and a farmer’s market.
When I’m not teaching or working on my TPT store, you can find me staying up way too late to finish a book in the thriller or romance genre, attending my favorite workout classes (shoutout PLNK and F45), partaking in 4-hour long dinners with the best of friends, or enjoying a binge-worthy show.
Thanks for being here!
